My sweetie pies!

This little video clip was taken on Thursday, the day before yesterday. That was Elijah's best day to date! He had many times where he would be calm and quiet, just looking around, for quite a while (5-10 minutes), or just cooing and smiling. This has been practically unheard of for him, so it was lovely to see him like that! He cried most of the evening though, and had a not-so-good day yesterday, and a pretty bad one today. He's asleep this evening though. So up-and-down with that poor baby boy!

Anyway, it was just a random moment really, in our day. Samuel (18 months) had been sitting by himself working on something (he does this a lot), and when I looked over I saw that he had pulled a pair of knitted teddy bear dungarees over his head like a hat. He looked so funny, and Benjamin was laughing, so I got the little camera which has video capabilities. After a bit, Samuel stopped doing that, but other things caught my attention so I kept on with the video clip. I happened to get Elijah cooing and smiling a bit which is a lovely first on video! :) I wanted to post it here, because I often take video clips and never get around to posting them, and then I look back at my blog to see what we were doing X years ago or something, and find not a lot recorded, but TONS in my photo or video files on the computer which I wish I had just taken the time to post to my blog, even if just for me to look back on and smile at. So here it is! :)

In the midst of all the chaos...

Had one of those moments this morning. Elijah is nearly 7 weeks old. He has reflux and various recently diagnosed structural issues which are thankfully resolvable with his ongoing osteopathic treatment. He cries in pain all the time, but he is doing better with reflux medication and me eating no dairy, and the osteopathy. We are tired. Tired tired tired. All of our waking hours for 7 weeks have revolved around little people, up to midnight and beyond, several times in the night, and starting over again between 6 and 7am. The house is suffering somewhat. The children are restless and getting less than I would want them to get in terms of quality time with me. I know it's just a season, thankfully, and it will pass - we're at least halfway there I hope! The same happened with Matthew when he was a baby. It was hard but it passed, and he was a very happy baby once it did! :)

Anyway, in the midst of all the chaos, exhaustion, and overwhelmed-with-little-people-ness, there's that moment where you find your husband doodling at the breakfast table after everyone was finished, wiped, and down from the table. I asked him what he was drawing and he said it was an idea for a house (pipe-dream) for us. It's hugely extravagant, hehe! I said surely it didn't need to be so BIG, and he looked me straight in the eye and told me in all seriousness that it's not for now, it's for when we adopt.

I love this man.
